What your free natal chart includes
A birth chart is a map of the sky at a particular time and place. This calculator uses the tropical zodiac and whole-sign houses to turn your recorded birth date, local time, and birthplace into an accessible chart wheel and placement table.
- Your big three: Sun sign, Moon sign, and rising sign when a birth time is known.
- Ten major bodies: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, with zodiac degrees and retrograde markers.
- Whole-sign houses: the twelve areas of life, starting with the sign of your Ascendant.
- Major aspects: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions, with their orbs.
- An introductory reading: sign and house interpretations, element emphasis, and practical reflection questions.
- A copy to keep: print your report, save it as a PDF through your browser, or download the reading as a text file.
How to get the most useful result
Use the date and local clock time recorded at your birthplace. Do not convert the time to where you live now or manually subtract daylight saving. Start typing your birth city and state or country, then select the matching place from the suggestions. U.S. visitors can enter a five-digit birth ZIP code instead. A green confirmation shows which place you selected. The calculator fills in the location and time zone automatically. You do not need to know latitude or longitude. The optional advanced checkbox is only for people who want to supply their own precise location details.
A recorded birth time matters because the Ascendant and house sequence change throughout the day. A time near a sign boundary can also change a planet’s sign. A birth certificate or another reliable record is more useful than guessing.
What if I do not know my birth time?
Select “I don’t know my birth time.” You will receive a date-only report using local noon as a reference. It omits the rising sign, houses, exact Moon placement, and Moon aspects. The report shows the Moon’s range across your date and flags other planets that may change signs. A date-only chart cannot recover a missing birth time.
What if my birthplace is missing?
The expanded list includes more than 68,000 cities and named places, plus about 41,000 U.S. ZIP codes. Try the city name with its state or country, or enter the ZIP code of your birthplace. If a place or ZIP code is still missing, try a nearby larger city for an approximate chart. You do not need to look up coordinates to use the tool. People who already know their precise location details can use the optional advanced manual-entry checkbox.
Does the calculator handle daylight saving?
Yes. It uses your browser’s historical time-zone rules. If a clock time occurred twice when clocks moved back, you must choose the recorded occurrence. A skipped clock time is rejected. Historical records can be uncertain, especially for older dates; a verified UTC offset can override the automatic conversion.
Understanding your chart
Begin with your Sun, Moon, and rising signs, then read the planets in their houses. The Sun can frame questions about purpose and expression; the Moon about familiar emotional responses; and the Ascendant about how you enter situations. These are symbolic lenses, not fixed instructions about who you must be.
The twelve houses give the planets a setting. Major aspects describe angular relationships between planets. Read these pieces together and compare them with your actual experience, rather than treating one placement as a verdict.

Frequently asked questions
Is this birth chart and reading really free?
Yes. The calculator, chart wheel, introductory reading, printing, and text download are free. There is no account, email requirement, payment form, or subscription needed to see the result.
Are my birth details saved or sent elsewhere?
The calculation runs in your browser. Birth details are not sent to an outside chart provider, saved in our database, or added to the page address. The calculator and city list are served by Great Horoscopes. General site-visit analytics may still apply. Use “Clear details” to remove the entered details and report from this tab.
Why might another astrology site show a different chart?
Different zodiac and house systems, time-zone assumptions, city coordinates, ephemerides, and aspect orbs can produce differences. This calculator uses tropical geocentric positions, whole-sign houses, and ten major bodies. It does not currently offer sidereal astrology, Placidus houses, Chiron, lunar nodes, or asteroids. The Midheaven is shown separately and need not fall on the tenth-house cusp in whole-sign houses.
Is the reading written personally by an astrologer?
This is an original, AI-assisted introductory reading assembled from your calculated placements. It is not a live consultation. Astrology is an interpretive practice, not a scientifically established method of predicting personality or events. Use the reading for reflection; it is not professional medical, financial, or legal advice.
What dates does the tool support?
Birth dates from 1800 through 2100. For older dates, verify historical time-zone rules and the recorded local time carefully. Uncertain birth records limit the precision of any resulting chart.
Calculation method and credits
Planetary positions are calculated with the open-source Astronomy Engine by Don Cross (version 2.1.19, MIT license). The expanded city and U.S. ZIP datasets are adapted from GeoNames under CC BY 4.0, with additional names retained from the MIT-licensed city-timezones project by Kevin Roberts. ZIP coordinates represent an approximate postal-area location; time zones are matched from nearby GeoNames populated places. Check the selected place, especially near time-zone boundaries. All lookup data and calculation software are served locally by this website. Interpretations and the calculator interface are original to Great Horoscopes.
We include major planetary aspects within 8° when the Sun or Moon is involved and 6° otherwise. The unknown-time report omits Moon aspects and aspects involving a placement that changes signs across the local birth date. Position calculations have been checked against a published reference chart; historical time conversion and uncertain inputs remain practical limits.
